My name is Officer Jeremy Brand. I was hired in September of 2006 as a Police Officer of the Lamar Police Department. I have over 10 years of Law Enforcement experience, and nearly half of that has been working a drug detecting K-9. I am currently training a beautiful chocolate lab as the next full time drug detecting K-9 for the City of Lamar. Her name is Mocha. Mocha was partially donated by Chris Shaw of Golden City. The veterinary care is partially donated by Central Pet Care of Carthage. Other sponsors include Morrison’s Printing, Rice’s Country Store, Isenhower Lumber, and Orscheln’s. The Springfield, MO Police Department K-9 Unit donated an insert for the car so that Mocha can ride in comfort and can be deployed easily.

Mocha has already started her preliminary training in obedience. Mocha is very eager to work, and loves to play (a fundamental for work). She is about 17 weeks old and is growing everyday. Mocha has a very strong bloodline including some championship hunting dogs. Some of her siblings went as far away as Kansas City.
Reserve Officer Toby Luce is also training a K-9 Unit for drug detection and patrol. A patrol dog is one used to make apprehensions of felons and violent offenders. Toby’s dog is named Justice. Justice is a 16 week old German Shepard. He too is growing every day. Justice is coming along well and both dogs are ready to start the drug detection part of their training very soon. |
